Portland Beer Week June 6-16 will kick off June 6 with a party at Lucky Lab Beer Hall, 1945 NW Quimby, and end with the Beer & Cheese Festival at The Commons Brewery, 1810 SE 10th, on June 16.
Portland Beer Week organizers last month announced the release of an official 2013 beer, a dry-hopped Northwest India amber ale conditioned with Brettanomyces, a collaboration between Breakside Brewery and Gigantic Brewing. Limited quantities of this beer will be released on draft and in bottles to Portland Beer Week sponsor bars and retailers.
Other events include the Rye Beer Festival on Friday, June 7, the Portland Fruit Beer Festival on June 8-9, Colorado Beer Night and Washington Beer Night at Belmont Station and more.
Beer & Food pairings are an important part of Portland Beer Week. Chef Vitaley Paley, Ned Ludd, Wildwood, Raven & Rose, The Cheese Bar and others will sponsor beer/food pairing events.

Rye Beer Fest June 7 Raises Funds for Chidren’s Cancer
The Rye Beer Fest June 7 will feature 19 rye beers served from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday, June 7. The fest at EastBurn, 1800 E. Burnside in Portland, is sponsored by Taplister. All proceeds from the sale of collaboration beers will be donated to the Children’s Cancer Association. The fest is among activities that are part of Portland’s Beer Week. The fundraiser adds to the funds raised for the association through the Bridge City Paddling Club’s Dawn to Dusk event.
Two collaboration beers include one brewed by Taplister with help from 10 Barrel Brewing. The other collaboration beer was brewed by Taplister and Hopworks.
In addition to rye beers, there are cocktails and rye foods. There’s no cost for admission. Cocktails, food and beer will be for sale.

Brews, Burgers & Bluegrass During Medford Beer Week

Fruit Beer On Tap June 8-9
Tickets are on sale now for the third-annual Portland Fruit Beer Fest, set for June 8-9 at the Burnside Brewing Company, 7th and East Burnside, Portland. Admission is $20 for a 16-ounce gold-flaked glass and 12 drink tickets. VIP admission is $28 and includes early admission on Saturday, a special tapping at 10 a.m. and 17 drink tickets. Regular admission hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 8, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 9.
About 50 fruit beers will be available from 25 breweries, according to event organizer Ezra Johnson-Greenough.
Part of the fest’s activities include a fruit beer homebrew contest organized by the Oregon Brew Crew and a June 5 pre-festival pig roast at the EastBurn, 1800 E. Burnside. Beers at the Fruit Beer Festival range in styles from hoppy mango IPAs to sour currant and raspberry porters. Lighter beer styles include infused pilsners, blood orange wits, and cherry wheat beers. Molalla Fest is June 13-15
Craft beer, live music and great food will highlight the Molalla Brew Fest June 13 – 16 in downtown Molalla. The fest is at 123 E. Ross St.
The festival will feature over 25 craft beers on tap, cider and wine.
This year, the festival’s second, organizers are adding an extra night of festivities – Thursday, June 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. The festival also runs from 5 p.m. to midnight June 14 and from Noon to midnight June 15.
A suggested cover charge of $3 is being collected for local charities: Share the Love, Molalla Relay for Life and Colton Boosters. Cost for beer packages is $20, which includes a souvenir beer mug and drink tickets on Friday and Saturday. A $5 designated driver cup can be filled with Crater Lake Soda Root Beer or Oregon Rain bottled water.
Families are welcome. Entertainment includes Rae Gordon Band, Sawtell, Jamalia, Abandon Stage, Dance Hall Days and Crush.
Sisters Wine & Brew Fest Set for June 14-15
The Sisters Wine and Brew Festival is set for June 14-15 at the Village Green Park in Sisters. The family and dog-friendly event runs from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 14, and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 15.
Tokens are required for tasting. Tokens are $15 for 15 tokens and can be purchased online in advance at www.sisterswineandbrew.com.
More than 30 breweries, wineries and distilleries will be serving tastes at the festival. Nearly 30 additional vendors will be on hand to sell food, gifts, services and locally crafted items.
NAOBF June 27-30, PDX
An eclectic mix of more than 15,000 beer lovers, music fans and supporters of sustainable living annually come together the last weekend of June to “Drink Organic, Save the Planet, One Beer at a Time” at the North American Organic Brewers Festival. The 9th annual event will take place June 27th through 30th at Overlook Park in North Portland. Event hours are Noon to 9pm Thursday through Saturday and Noon to 5pm Sunday. Admission into the event is free. The purchase of a $6 reusable, compostable cornstarch cup is required for tasting beer, as are tokens, which sell for $1 apiece. A full cup of beer or cider costs four tokens and a 4-ounce taste costs one token; select beers cost double tokens. Patrons receive a $1 discount toward the tasting glass with a validated Tri-Met ticket, a ticket from the Hopworks Bike Corral or three cans of food for the Oregon Food Bank (limit one discount per person). The NAOBF donates a portion of proceeds to the Overlook Neighborhood Association and the Oregon Food Bank. Designed to raise awareness about organic beer and sustainable living, the NAOBF typically serves up more than 50 organic beers and ciders from 40 different breweries. There’s also live local music, organic food, sustainability-oriented vendors and non-profits, a soda garden with complimentary Crater Lake Root Beer for minors and designated drivers, and a children’s area with face painting and activities. The NAOBF is a family friendly event, and minors are welcome with parents.
Thompson House Barley Cup To Choose Best Brew
Here’s your chance to vote for your favorite McMenamin’s beer, along with the experts at the 16th annual Barley Cup Brewfest, 11 a.m. to closing at the Thompson Brewery and Public House, 3575 Liberty Road S., Salem. Members of the Capitol Homebrewers Club along with special guests will be offical judged of the nine beers in the brewfest. The winner of the brewfest gets to represent McMenamins in the Holiday Ale Festival. But the public gets to vote on their favorite beer in people’s choice award contest.

State’s Largest Brewers Fest Is July 24-29 in Portland
On a sun-soaked July afternoon, there’s no better place to sip suds with friends than the Oregon Brewers Festival, one of the nation’s longest-running and best-loved craft beer festivals. Nearly 80,000 fans annually travel from points around the world to take part in the event. The 26th Oregon Brewers Festival will take place July 24 through July 28 at Tom McCall Waterfront Park in downtown Portland. Event hours are Noon to 9pm Wed. through Sat., and Noon to 7pm Sunday. Admission into the festival grounds is free. In order to consume beer, purchase of a 2013 souvenir 12.8-ounce tasting glass is required and costs $7. Beer is purchased with wooden tokens, which cost $1 apiece. Patrons pay four tokens for a full glass of beer, or one token for a taste. There are no advance tickets sold to the festival; all purchases are made on-site. The Oregon Brewers Festival serves up more than 25 beer styles from 82 craft breweries from around the country; there are 84 different beers served, one per brewery plus two gluten-free offerings. The festival also features five days of live music, food booths, craft vendors, homebrew demonstrations and industry displays. A root beer garden provides complimentary handcrafted root beer to minors and designated drivers; minors are allowed into the event when accompanied by a parent.
Mid-Valley Breweries Host Picnic at Farm July 27
Corvallis and Albany-area brewers will host a Craft Beer Picnic July 27 to celebrate Oregon Craft Beer Month. Brewers and their friends will gather for a community picnic hosted by Afton Field Farm and organized by Block 15 in Corvallis. The event will take place from noon until 9 p.m. at the farm, 3375 S.W. 53rd St., Corvallis. In addition to local beers, there will also be a picnic-style buffet, live music, lawn games, farm tours, and a pig roast.
“Now is a great time to celebrate local breweries’ commitment to their communities with a Craft Beer Picnic at Afton Field Farm,” said Chris Heuchert, manager of Block 15 Brewing. Block 15 Restaurant & Brewery will be pouring their beers along with 2 Towns Ciderhouse, Calapooia Brewing, Flat Tail Brewing, Mazama Brewing, McMenamins on Monroe, Nectar Creek Meadery, Oregon Trail Brewery, and Sky High Brewery. Beers will be served alongside a slow-cooked buffet featuring Afton Field Farm chicken and pork prepared by Block 15.

Bite of Oregon Aug. 9-11: More Beer & New Features
The 30th-annual Bite of Oregon returns this year Aug. 9-11 with new features to add to the mainstay favorites. More than 50,000 people are expected to attend the event at Portland’s Tom McCall Waterfront Park.
New this year is Oregon’s Bountiful Table, featuring foods prepared by Oregon Department of Agriculture Commissions chefs. The attendees will have the opportunity to meet the rancher, farmer, or fisherman who grew, raised or caught the item they are enjoying. In addition to additional food, the Oregon Craft Beer Gardens is expanding this year, featuring more than 30 kinds of craft beers and continuous music and entertainment.
